Nugget 143: The Lord is our Light

Many times we find that we want to relate and blend in with our environments and the norm. So we find ourselves trying to copy the customs and cultures of the world in relation to our lives, destinies, marriages, families, bringing up our children, making wealth etc and yet we have been called to a unique identity in our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord gave us Jesus Christ as King of those who choose to confess Him as their own. And Jesus says that whoever does the will of His Father is his brother and sister, making Him a King who is not foreign over our lives and all that concerns us.

The Lord cautions us in the book of 1 Samuel 8:10-18 about what any other king who is not the Lord will do to families, children, etc. So choose to confess and submit yourself and everything to the King of kings whose yoke is lighter, gives rest to the weary and blesses with that which adds no sorrow, Jesus Christ.

Deuteronomy 17:14-15 – [14] When you come to the land which the Lord your God gives you and you possess it and live there, and then say, We will set a king over us like all the nations that are about us, [15] You shall surely set as king over you him whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your brethren you shall set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner, who is not your brother, over you.

PRAYER: Father, in the name of Jesus, we continue to embrace our unique identities in you and confess that you are our God, our King, our Light, may we always draw refreshment, rest, dominion that is guaranteed to your people, Amen.
